Bridal Lip Trends for 2016
With the 2016 bridal season upon us, one of the most important parts of a bridal makeup application is lip color. I’m going to review the big trends in lip colors for different skin tones and which looks best on ALL skin tones.
First and foremost, lips make a huge statement on your big day. I mean, obviously, this is the KISS you’ve been waiting your whole life for. Let’s make sure you have the perfect shade for that perfect pucker!
Let’s start with lighter skin tones. For very pale skin tones, Nude tones are going to be the best match. If you wanted to go for something a little more bold, you can get into some reds, but they look best on lighter skin if they have a blue undertone. Peaches and pinks can look great on lighter skin tones as well. If you have lighter skin you should stay far away from browns (burgundy or chocolate tones). They tend to be the least flattering on light skin tones.
For olive skin tones, berry and coral shades are always a great choice. It’s best to stick to warm tones when you’re picking a red. A brownish red is much more flattering on olive skin tone. You should stay away from blue toned reds, which look nicer on pale skinned individuals. Stay far away from purples and deep browns since they don’t do much for olive skin. If you decided to try mauve or rose tones, you will find that it can look stunning on your olive toned skin.
Deep red is a perfect color for darker skin. A brown or blue based red will work great on dark toned skin.. Shades of coral or orange can also look amazing. For a daytime wedding, caramel or gold shades work lovely. Deeper reds or purple shades seem more suited for night-time events. The only shades you really should avoid are lighter shades that have white-ish tones or light frosted shades. However there are definitely a LOT of choices for dark-skinned ladies!
The lip color of 2016 is….. (drum roll)……… Rose Quartz. It is a perfect color on all skin tones and it’s the perfect color for all brides. It’s a gorgeous tone that is easy to touch up on your big day. The color is huge this year and you’ll be seeing it everywhere! Let’s all give into this fabulous trend whether it’s for bridal or everyday wear!
